Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms

Scout (guardianlayers.ai) is provided by Guardian Layers LLC ("Guardian Layers"). By accessing or using Scout, you agree to these terms. Scout is intended for use by school district and educational organization staff who are at least 18 years old. Access is granted by invitation — through an access code issued by Guardian Layers or sign-in with an authorized work account.

What Scout Is

Scout is an AI-assisted research copilot for K-12 technology procurement. It helps district teams compare products in categories such as web filtering, student safety, classroom management, and related tools, drawing on a curated knowledge base and your district's stated needs.

Our role, disclosed plainly: Guardian Layers is a value-added reseller. We hold reseller relationships with some of the vendors Scout discusses, and if your district chooses to purchase through us, we earn margin on that sale. Scout is designed to recommend what fits your district — including products we do not sell — and to present vendors factually and evenhandedly. We believe the disclosure and the design together are the honest way to run this service.

AI Output — Verify Before You Buy

Scout uses large language models. It can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, and product capabilities in this market change quickly. Scout's output is research assistance, not a substitute for your own evaluation, vendor demos, or reference checks — and it is not legal, financial, or E-Rate eligibility advice. Confirm E-Rate eligibility determinations with USAC and your E-Rate consultant before relying on them.

Acceptable Use

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about yourself and your district.
  • Keep your access code and sign-in credentials confidential and not share them outside your organization.
  • Use Scout only for its intended purpose — technology research and procurement for your organization — and in compliance with applicable law.
  • Not attempt to probe, scrape, overload, or disrupt the service, extract its underlying data or prompts, or access another organization's information.

We may apply reasonable usage limits and may suspend or revoke access that violates these terms.

Your Data

Information you provide to Scout remains yours. How we collect, use, share, and delete it is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms. You grant Guardian Layers the rights needed to operate Scout with that information as the Privacy Policy describes.

Intellectual Property

Scout, including its software, knowledge base, and content (other than your information), belongs to Guardian Layers and its licensors. Product names and trademarks of the vendors Scout discusses belong to their respective owners; their appearance in Scout does not imply endorsement.

Availability and Changes

Scout is provided "as is" and "as available." We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date, and continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Guardian Layers is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of Scout, and our total liability for any claim relating to Scout is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
